The Metallurgy & Materials Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (MetSoc of CIM) is pleased to announce the 2018 awards recipients.

The Recognition of Excellence Program at MetSoc aims to honour those members of the Society who have excelled through their outstanding achievements and contributions to metallurgy and related fields. The program includes award categories from Environment achievements to contributions as an academic or research scientist. MetSoc of CIM's awards program is sponsored by Hatch, Rio Tinto, TECK and XPS Expert Process Solutions through support of the student Foundation.

"Over the years, many people and organizations have contributed significantly to the development of the Canadian Metals Industry. Although there are a myriad ways to recognize these contributions, as members of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Society our most effective method of publicly recognizing these contributions is through the presentation of a MetSoc award," says James Budac, President of MetSoc of CIM, Manager of Process Technology at Sherritt International Corporation.

The recipients will be recognized in person at the 57th Annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM 2018 hosted at MS&T18) on October 15th, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio.
