For over 35 years, Omega Communications Ltd. has provided solutions for communication in a variety of industrial sectors, and recently has branched out to include the mining industry. Warren Saari, vice-president of business development, began his career with the company in 1991, working his way around the company to become a partner. He continues his vital work onOmega's key industries, as well as focusing on finding new products to bring to the market and exploring opportunities in the mining sector.

Why mining?

Saari said what sets Omega apart is that the company solves problems, from the simple to very technical.

“Problems could be simple voice coverage issues, or require us to come up with a unique way to record and identify specific transmitters, for example,” said Saari.

He said Omega is also proud to literally go the extra mile - they have crews that will go anywhere in Canada, having put systems in as far east as Labrador, as far north as Banks Island, and in northern Saskatchewan, and they represent some of the industries' tried and true brands such as Motorola and Zetron.

The company has always supported some of the local mines, being based in Kelowna, but was motivated to  further explore the mining sector when the recession hit to be ready for the market as it recovered.

Saari really enjoys the opportunity to be creative, because everybody has problems that are unique.

“We are able to design and be creative to come up with a solution for a company's problems,” said Saari, “and we really like doing that.”

Omega Communications has been trusted for a number of years as the provincial ambulance service's “go-to communications people,"  as well as serving other industrial sectors. The company is known for its commitment to its clients,  its exceptional products and services and reliability.
