Aboriginal relations

The Yukon Chamber of Mines (YCM) and the Tr’ondek Hwech’in and Na-cho Nyak Dun First Nations signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MOU) last month, outlining mutual benefits, responsibilities and areas for support. The MOU was designed to create a framework for future developments to the mutual benefit of both parties.

The First Nations groups are focused on preserving a way of life that is based on an economic and spiritual relationship with the land, while still upholding First Nations rights and responsibilities.

The YCM aims to promote a vibrant, safe and responsible mining and exploration industry in Yukon while supporting the highest standards of technical, environmental, safety and social practices.
