24% of BC’s fastest growing companies in mining and energy sectors

Business in Vancouver (BIV) has released a list of the Top 100 fastest-growing companies in B.C., with almost a quarter of companies involved in the mining and energy sectors. — Photo courtesy Turquoise Hill Resources

Vancouver-based Turquoise Hill Resources heads up this year's Business In Vancouver (BIV) list of the Top 100 fastest-growing companies in British Columbia, with an impressive 2,110% increase in revenue over the course of the last five years. Revenues at the company have increased from $82 million in 2010 to $1.85 Billion in 2014.

Turquoise Hill operates one of the world's largest copper mines in Mongolia.  "The mine's location is strategically important because China is the world's largest consumer of copper," said Jeff Tygesen, in an interview for the BIV Top 100 article.

While Turquoise Hill leads the way on the Top 100 fastest-growing companies list, 24 per cent of the list is made up of companies involved in the mining and energy sectors.  The Top 100 Fastest-growing companies is ranked by percentage growth in revenue between the years 2010 and 2014.
