AuRo appoints John Buckle as vice-president of exploration

by Keith Powell

AuRo Resources Corp. (TSX‑V: ARU) (FRANKFURT: NXP3) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Buckle P. Geo., P. Geoph. as vice-president, exploration. Mr. Buckle has worked across the full mining spectrum for approximately 40 years, and has played key roles in major discoveries throughout North and South America, dually with majors and junior mining companies. Mr. Buckle’s distinct and diverse experience establishes him as a valuable addition and asset to the AuRo team.

From 1998 to present, Mr. Buckle was a consulting geoscientist for Geological Solutions, which specializes in geophysical and geological consulting on projects in Canada, USA, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Turkey and Niger for Canadian based junior mineral exploration companies. Key highlights of Mr. Buckle’s credentials, and track record of his discoveries include:

  • Mr. Buckle targeted the discovery drill holes on the rich El Domo polymetallic deposit. El Domo is already Ecuador’s largest VHMS deposit and it is still growing.
  • Part of the team that added new discovery zones to the historic Collahuasi copper mine in Chile, which now hosts over 1.8 billion pounds of copper under the joint ownership of Xstrata (LSE: XTA) and AngloAmerican (LSE: AAL).
  • An instrumental member of the discovery team of new ore-grade mineralization at an abandoned project that later became the four-million-ounce Jacobina gold mine, which is now owned by Yamana Gold (TSX: YRI).
  • Prior to working in Latin America John worked in the Canadian north where he designed the initial geophysical survey for BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP) at Point Lake that led to the discovery of the Ekati Diamond Mine and subsequent diamond discoveries in the Northwest Territories.
  • Mr. Buckle also directed the first airborne survey that led to the discovery of the Voisey’s Bay nickel discovery owned by VALE (NYSE: VALE).

AuRo Resources president and CEO Mark Lawson said, “We are delighted to dually have a senior geologist and geophysicist with John’s significant experience throughout Latin America, join AuRo as a key member of our senior management team. We are excited to have him lead our exploration, drilling and corporate development initiatives in country. ”

Buckle said, “AuRo Resources has assembled an impressive portfolio of properties in three of the most prolific mineral belts in Colombia. I will be directing an aggressive exploration campaign from AuRo’s exploration office in Bucaramanga, Colombia. I am pleased to be a part of a company that has such a bright future.”
