Community open house

by Keith Powell

The public is invited to attend an open house to learn about Teck’s proposed construction of a full-scale selenium reduction active water treatment facility at the Line Creek operation.

The main components of the project are:

•  A treatment facility;
•  An intake structure on West Line Creek and an intake/outfall structure on Line Creek and the conveyance system connecting these structures to the treatment facility
•  Other associated infrastructure.

Construction is scheduled to commence this summer, in order to have the treatment facility operational in 2014. The treatment facility will reduce selenium levels in Line Creek, which ultimately flows into the Fording River and Elk River.
