Energy News: Premier launches $100 million project for Britco

According to a report by Business in Vancouver, Premier Christy Clark met with about 250 employees of Britco in Penticton in September to launch a $100 million northern Alberta housing project.
Britco, a Langley-headquartered modular construction company, will design and build accommodations comprised of over 1,500 rooms for Devon Energy Corporation.
The project is expected to provide the equivalent of 275 full-time jobs for one year as the accommodations are built in Britco's modular construction facilities in Agassiz and Penticton.
"Britco's success shows that our plan to attract investment in B.C.'s energy and resource sector will pay off in jobs and opportunities for citizens across the province," said Clark.
The two companies have worked together once before. Earlier this year, Britco completed an 880-room workforce accommodation facility for the energy company.
"These types of housing projects are an important element in our business success," said Chris Seasons, president of Devon Canada Corporation. "In order to draw the best and brightest to work on our successful oil sands projects, we need superior accommodations. Britco delivered a quality product safely and on time. They are an excellent example of oil sands benefits flowing directly to the people and province of British Columbia."
The project is expected to be completed by December 2015.
Britco supplies modular construction facilities for the mining, energy and industrial sectors.
