Canada is pursuing a vigorous agenda of natural resource development involving thousands of projects worth hundreds of billions of dollars. A number of recent initiatives in British Columbia demonstrate that First Nations play a key role in determining the success or failure of these projects, and this holds true for the country at large.

More and more, it is apparent that First Nations have a strong and growing position as decision makers in the success or failure of resource development initiatives and, as such, a key factor in the Canadian economy.

National Chief Shawn Atleo will speak to the dangers and opportunities that we face at this crossroads, and will set out an innovative path forward that respects, recognizes and reconciles the interests of all parties.
