Ridley Terminals purchases artwork from northern artists
In the past two years Ridley Terminals Inc. (RTI) has spent $100,000 purchasing art pieces from northern B.C. artists. The initiative was so successful that they are doing it again for 2013. The announcement was made at the West Coast Wild art show at the Lester Center on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
The premise behind the initiative is to support the fine arts by purchasing artwork from northern BC artists, then donating the purchased art to charities to use in their fundraising efforts. This process allows for the distribution of northern BC art to various locations throughout the province, which benefits the artist, as they become known to a larger audience. In addition, the charities benefit from the art work by using it in their fundraising endeavours.
Deadline for entries was May 31, 2013
Once all of the submissions are received The Museum of Northern BC has agreed to showcase all of the art that has been purchased through this initiative in their gallery. Once the exhibit closes, the art will be packaged up and donated to various charities.
