Bruce Power Supplier Information Day

Wednesday, July 27, 2016 Bruce Power site - B10 Auditorium, Tiverton, Ontario

A comprehensive supplier information session hosted by Bruce Power for current and prospective suppliers. Senior executives will outline corporate priorities, commercial opportunities, and supplier requirements for the next three years across multiple work programs including outages, major projects, and the life-extension refurbishment program.

This supplier information day represents a strategic engagement initiative by Bruce Power, operator of the world's largest nuclear generating facility, to align its supply chain with upcoming investment programs. The event features presentations from key executives including the Acting President, Chief Nuclear Officer, and Vice Presidents across Outage and Maintenance Services, Major Projects, Project Management and Construction, Facilities, Commercial Services, and Supply Chain divisions.

Attendees can expect detailed briefings on Bruce Power's operational plan and the critical role suppliers must play in successful delivery. The session will cover substantial commercial opportunities across four main work streams: Bruce Power outages and projects, site facilities and infrastructure upgrades, the Major Component Replacement project, and comprehensive Asset Management initiatives. These programs stem from the December 2015 amended agreement with Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator to secure 6,300 megawatts of capacity.

The timing of this supplier engagement is particularly significant as it precedes the major refurbishment program scheduled to commence on Unit 6 in 2020. This life-extension initiative will optimize the operational life of all units (3-8) and represents billions in investment flowing into Ontario's economy. With projections of 18,000 direct and indirect operational jobs plus 3,000-5,000 additional positions annually during the investment period, the supplier opportunities outlined at this event could be transformative for participating companies.

For Ontario's nuclear supply chain, this event provides unprecedented access to Bruce Power's senior leadership team and strategic planning insights. Given Bruce Power's role in providing roughly 30 percent of Ontario's electricity through eight CANDU reactors, supplier partnerships formed through this initiative will be integral to maintaining Ontario's energy security and supporting the province's long-term energy strategy.
