Privacy Policy

Canadian Mining & Energy ("we", "us") is a directory of mining & energy issuers and their press releases, with paid services such as credits, marketplace placements, and advertising. We keep data collection to a minimum and never sell it. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Information we collect

Essential cookies. We set a session cookie required for the site to function. It carries no advertising or tracking data.

Analytics. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Umami) to understand aggregate traffic. It sets no cookies, builds no personal profiles, and does no cross-site tracking. Because it stores nothing on your device and identifies no one, it requires no consent and runs on all visits.

Account information. If you create an account, we collect your name and email address, and store your password in hashed form. If your account is attached to a company profile you represent, we record that link.

Purchase & billing information. When you buy credits, place a marketplace order, or accept a proposal, we keep a record of the transaction — what was bought, the amount, the company it was for, and its status — including a ledger of credits added to and spent from your account. If you ask to be invoiced, we collect the billing details needed to issue the invoice.

Payment card details. Card payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. Your card number never touches our servers — we receive only confirmation of payment and a transaction reference.

Proposal contacts. If we prepare a proposal for you or your company, we store the contact name and email address it's addressed to so we can send it and follow up.

Information you send us. If you submit a profile-claim or advertising inquiry, we collect the name, email, and message you provide so we can verify and respond to your request.

Server logs. Our host keeps standard technical logs (e.g. IP address, browser) to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

To operate and secure the site, process your purchases and deliver what you bought, send transactional email (receipts, order updates, invoices, proposals), respond to your inquiries, and understand aggregate usage. We do not sell your information or use advertising-tracking cookies.

Cookies & your choices

We use only essential cookies, which are required for the site to function. Our analytics is cookieless and stores nothing on your device, so there is nothing to opt into or out of. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Third parties

We rely on a small set of providers to operate the service: Stripe for card payments, an email-delivery provider for transactional mail, and a privacy-friendly analytics provider. When an order involves one of our fulfilment partners, we share only what's needed to deliver it — typically your company name, the service ordered, and any note you attached. Information about issuers shown on the site is factual, publicly available listing information.

Retention

Transaction records, credit ledgers, and invoices are kept as long as needed for accounting and tax purposes. Other information is kept while your account is active or while we need it to handle your request.

Data requests

To access or delete information you’ve sent us, email staff@miningandenergy.ca and we’ll help. Note that we may need to retain transaction records we're legally required to keep.

Children

The site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
