Powering Generations: Legacy to the Future
CEBC's spring conference showcasing clean energy technologies, solutions and job opportunities from BC's CleanBC plan. The event focuses on the Kootenays' engineering excellence and clean energy project impacts on regional innovation.
Powering Generations represents a comprehensive exploration of British Columbia's clean energy future, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, Indigenous voices, and community stakeholders in the heart of the Kootenays. The conference opens with a full-day workshop on June 4th, co-hosted by West Kootenay EcoSociety's Montana Burgess, specifically designed for community leaders, local government, First Nations leaders and clean energy professionals interested in collaborative partnerships. This workshop, led by Order of Canada recipient Dr. Judith Sayers of the Hupacasath First Nation, addresses renewable energy myths while providing practical roadmaps for achieving 100% renewable energy transitions. The main conference features keynote presentations from Green Party Leader Dr. Andrew Weaver MLA and former ʔAq̓am chief Sophie Pierre, highlighting both political leadership and Indigenous perspectives on clean energy development. Attendees will gain insights into global renewable energy trends, clean technology development, and labour readiness strategies for capitalizing on emerging job opportunities. The conference concludes with hands-on experiences including visits to the cutting-edge Midas 3D Fab Lab and comprehensive tours of the region's diverse clean energy infrastructure, including Nelson Hydro, Nelson Solar, Brilliant Dam and Waneta Dam. This immersive approach provides delegates with both theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of clean energy implementation in the Kootenays region.
