A feasibility study sheds a positive light on the Gahcho Kue diamond project owned by Mountain Province Diamonds (AMEX:MDM) and De Beers Canada. The report details that the creation of a mine has a potential operating lifespan of 11 years with an estimated annual production of 4.5 million carats. Currently, there is 30.2 million tonnes containing 50.5 million carats indicated and six million tonnes containing 10.3 million carats inferred, according to a resource estimate released in 2009. The proposed site is situated 300 kilometres north of Yellowknife and 90 kilometres east of the Snap Lake Mine—another De Beers Canada property.
