Exploration Midland Inc. and its partner SOQUEM Inc. have announced a significant follow-up exploration program at their Malaco Mountain project in Quebec's Labrador Trough, building on exceptional mineralization discovered in 2025. The companies plan to conduct a 15-kilometer linear induced polarization survey in August 2026, accompanied by ground prospecting, to further delineate the copper-gold-rare earth element discovery.

The 2025 exploration program yielded remarkable results, with outcrop sampling returning grades of up to 31.60% copper, 6.92 g/t gold, 32.4 g/t silver, and 1.77% rare earth elements. Detailed sampling across two transects of 10 and 13 meters revealed consistent mineralization, with 18 of 25 samples reporting copper grades exceeding 0.1% and 10 samples exceeding 1% copper, with the highest reaching 27.6% copper. Gold values ranged from 61 to 877 ppb, demonstrating the multi-commodity potential of the discovery.

The mineralization occurs as stratiform horizons of chalcopyrite, pyrite, malachite, azurite, and digenite disseminated within mudstone bedding, along with massive discordant veins associated with fracture zones and breccias. The mineralization is accompanied by silicification, albitization, and carbonation, indicating a robust hydrothermal system. Petrophysical testing on massive sulfide and disseminated chalcopyrite samples confirmed good electrical contrasts, validating the use of induced polarization as an exploration tool.

The strategic alliance between Midland and SOQUEM, established in November 2021, continues with a joint annual budget of $1 million (50% each partner) for 2026, focusing on the Malaco Mountain and Nachicapau projects. This partnership leverages the combined expertise of both companies to explore the underexplored Labrador Trough region, which extends from Schefferville south to approximately 100 kilometers northwest of Kangirsuk. The discovery at Malaco Mountain represents a significant breakthrough in this vast territory, potentially opening up a new mineralized district for copper, gold, and critical rare earth elements in Quebec's mining landscape.
