Baptiste Nickel Project In-Person Open House

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 Fort St. James Community Hall, Fort St. James, British Columbia

In-person public open house for the Baptiste Nickel Project environmental assessment process. Community members can learn about the project, review the Initial Project Description, and provide feedback during the public comment period.

This in-person open house represents a key opportunity for local community members and stakeholders to engage directly with the Baptiste Nickel Project environmental assessment process. Organized jointly by the BC Environmental Assessment Office and the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, the session will provide attendees with comprehensive information about FPX Nickel's proposed Baptiste project, including details from the Initial Project Description that was recently accepted by both federal and provincial governments. The event is particularly significant as it marks the first of four public comment periods in the environmental assessment process for what could become one of the world's lowest carbon-intensive nickel producers. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the project's unique awaruite mineralization, its potential environmental benefits due to the absence of sulphur in the ore, and the comprehensive regulatory framework guiding the project's development. The session is designed to facilitate meaningful dialogue between project proponents, regulators, and the community, reflecting FPX Nickel's commitment to collaborative engagement that has been ongoing for years prior to entering the formal EA process. This community consultation is essential for gathering local input that will inform the project's design and operational planning as it advances through the regulatory process.
