B.C. Mine Reclamation Awards banquet

Saturday, September 1, 2012 British Columbia, Canada

Annual awards ceremony recognizing outstanding achievements in mine reclamation across British Columbia. The event honors mining companies and organizations that demonstrate exceptional environmental restoration practices and innovative approaches to returning mined lands to productive use.

The B.C. Mine Reclamation Awards represent the province's premier recognition program for excellence in environmental restoration within the mining sector. The 2012 ceremony honored five distinct operations across multiple mining categories, from aggregate operations to metal mines and placer properties. Award recipients demonstrated innovative approaches to land restoration, with particular emphasis on returning mined areas to beneficial post-mining uses including agriculture, habitat restoration, and community development. The British Columbia Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation organizes this annual event to promote best practices in mine closure and encourage continuous improvement in environmental stewardship throughout the mining industry. Recipients undergo rigorous evaluation of their reclamation methodologies, environmental outcomes, and long-term sustainability of restoration efforts. The awards serve as both recognition for exceptional work and educational opportunities for the broader mining community to learn from successful reclamation case studies across diverse geological and operational contexts.
