Exploration '17 EADDF Guidelines Launch

Monday, October 23, 2017 Toronto, Ontario

PDAC will officially launch the Exploration Assessment Digital Data Formats (EADDF) guidelines at Exploration '17. This presentation will introduce the new national standard for digital geoscience data submission that aims to improve mineral discovery rates across Canada.

The EADDF guidelines launch at Exploration '17 represents a milestone moment for Canadian mining geoscience data management. Attendees will be among the first to learn about these groundbreaking guidelines that establish a uniform national standard for digital data submission to jurisdictional mine recording offices. The presentation will detail how these guidelines address the current inefficiencies where vast amounts of digitally-produced geoscience data are converted to PDF or paper formats, making historical data compilation extremely challenging. Charles Beaudry, chair of PDAC's Geoscience Committee, will explain how the simple yet comprehensive structure of the guidelines can be easily implemented across all Canadian jurisdictions, even those already requiring digital submissions. The event will cover the technical aspects of the guidelines, including requirements for geochemistry, geophysics, drill hole data, and geology categories that were developed through years of collaborative work. For mining professionals, exploration companies, and government representatives, this launch provides crucial insights into how standardized data formats will facilitate more efficient exploration and potentially lead to increased mineral discoveries. The guidelines represent nearly a decade of development work and could fundamentally transform how the Canadian mining industry manages and leverages its exploration data assets.
