Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2015

Monday, July 27, 2015 Nairobi, Kenya

The sixth annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders, mentors and high-level government officials to support innovators and job creators worldwide. The 2015 event was notable for hosting U.S. President Barack Obama and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2015 represented a pivotal gathering for the international business and innovation community, hosted in Nairobi as Kenya established itself as an African hub for entrepreneurship. Initiated by the U.S. government in 2010, GES has evolved into a premier platform connecting entrepreneurs at all stages of business development with established business leaders, experienced mentors, and senior government officials from around the globe. The 2015 summit was particularly significant for its unprecedented assembly of high-level leaders, headlined by the participation of U.S. President Barack Obama and H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya. This convergence of political leadership and private sector innovation created a unique environment for announcing major international business agreements and partnerships. SkyPower's participation as an official Solar Energy Partner and the announcement of their landmark US $2.2 billion Kenya solar agreement during the summit exemplified the type of transformational deals that GES facilitates. The event served as both a catalyst for immediate business development and a symbol of the growing importance of Africa in the global innovation economy, with Kenya positioned at the forefront of this transformation.
