Focus Graphite Inc. has commenced a critical tailings storage facility dam break analysis at its flagship Lac Knife Graphite Project in Quebec, marking a significant advancement toward project permitting and development. The comprehensive study, led by global engineering consultant WSP Canada Inc., will evaluate hypothetical failure scenarios for the project's planned filtered dry-stack tailings storage facility using advanced hydrological and hydraulic modeling under extreme conditions including Probable Maximum Precipitation scenarios.

The analysis represents one of the final major technical components required to complete the company's Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), with results expected to be incorporated into regulatory submissions supporting the 2026 ESIA advancement timeline. The study will generate detailed flood mapping and downstream impact assessments, conducted in alignment with industry frameworks including Canadian Dam Association guidelines and the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management, demonstrating the company's commitment to risk-informed and environmentally responsible project design.

The Lac Knife project utilizes modern filtered dry-stack tailings technology, widely recognized as a lower-risk alternative to conventional slurry-based tailings systems. This approach, combined with the rigorous dam break analysis, positions the project favorably for regulatory approval while addressing environmental and community concerns.
