Institute on Lake Superior Geology (ILSG) Annual Meeting

Wednesday, June 3, 2026 Thunder Bay region, Ontario

Annual geological conference featuring field trips to significant mineral properties in the Lake Superior region. The 2026 meeting included a 'Shebandowan Gold' field trip showcasing emerging gold discoveries and exploration potential in northwestern Ontario.

The Institute on Lake Superior Geology annual meeting is a premier regional geological conference that brings together academic researchers, industry professionals, and prospectors to examine the latest developments in Lake Superior basin geology and mineral exploration. The 2026 meeting featured a specialized 'Shebandowan Gold' field trip that highlighted the emerging significance of this northwestern Ontario gold district. Twenty-eight geologists and prospectors participated in technical field visits to active exploration properties, including Delta Resources' Delta-1 Gold Project, where participants examined firsthand the geology, alteration systems, and structural controls associated with gold mineralization at the I-Zone and Eureka Gold Zone. The field trip provided valuable exposure for companies operating in the region while offering attendees insights into new exploration concepts and discoveries that are reshaping understanding of gold potential in the Shebandowan greenstone belt. This type of academic-industry collaboration is essential for advancing geological knowledge and exploration techniques in emerging mineral districts.
