For almost 50 years, MacLean Engineering has specialized in mobile equipment solutions for the underground mining industry. In Canada by the end of 2019, over 30 MacLean EV mining vehicles will be working underground at nine mine sites across the country. Continuing MacLean Engineering’s legacy of innovation is the introduction of full-fleet electrification, integrating best-in-class battery and electric drive technology to deliver a safe, proven option for diesel-free operations in the underground environment.
The MacLean EV Series mobile equipment design incorporates onboard charging that plugs into the existing infrastructure in a mine, along with liquid-cooled and data-rich battery technology to deliver a low-heat, low noise, low maintenance equipment experience.
The latest addition to the EV Series of equipment is the MacLean RB3-Scaler, designed in response to the global mining industry’s need for safe and productive mechanical scaling options. Available with the option of battery electric propulsion, the unit is the latest addition to the MacLean ground support fleet. Features include a long-reach articulated boom and dual rotary actuators to help scale at safe and convenient angles and optional radio controls for remote operation.
“We have a proven and instantly mine-ready battery electric fleet solution,” states Kevin MacLean, president of MacLean Engineering. “Battery electric vehicles are the next chapter in our almost half-century focus on production support mining equipment solutions for the global hard rock industry.”
