Port industry leaders present funds to local charities

Earlier this year Port Metro Vancouver and port industry leaders—including Terminal Systems, Fraser Surrey Docks, Westshore Terminals and other—joined forces to host the 14th annual Port Gala Fundraising Event to help raise awareness and funds for important community organizations. The event raised $180,000 this year.
The 2013 Port Gala Fundraiser was co-hosted by Port Metro Vancouver and Port terminal businesses from across the Lower Mainland: DP World, Fraser Surrey Docks, Global Container Terminals and Western Stevedoring.
More than 380 people attended the popular fundraiser, setting a new record. The beneficiaries of the 2013 Port Gala will receive $180,000 this year, bringing the total amount of funds raised since 1999 to $1,300,000.
The three worthy community organizations that are receiving $60,000 each are: Reach Child and Youth Development Society (Delta), Harvest Project (North Vancouver) and Mission Possible (Vancouver).
